Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

The city Hiroshima is synonymous with one grave event in world history. It has come back to life since that terrible day in 1945, a thriving metro with vibrancy and culture. Yet, it is important to remember the past, and do so respectfully. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, museum, and the Atomic Bomb Dome site preserve this history for all who visit.

Seeing the buildings and industry that now exists in Hiroshima makes some of this tragedy hard to imagine. The idea that, in an instant, an entire area was destroyed, with only a single structure still recognizable. As an American, visiting this place also hits hard, elliciting a range of emotions.

Ultimately, that is part of why this blog exists, and why these photos are shared. To encourage others to see things, to open their eyes to the world and those emotions. The truth about our past can be difficult to face, but it happened, and I hope it never befalls the world again.
