Tokyo Mobility Show 2023

The future? A chance to show off concept cars that may, or may not ever come to fruition? In the case of the 2023 edition of the Tokyo Mobility Show, it was very much a feeling of pent up release. Hard to believe, but prior to this year’s event, there had been a solid four year drought where Japan’s automakers were unable to showcase their wares on home soil. The last event of this kind was in 2019, and then COVID upended the whole world to throw the Tokyo Olympics, and the this show for an unfortunate delay.

Timing aside, there were arguably two debuts this year that caused the biggest interest among sports car fans. Those were the above pictured Nissan Hyper Force concept, and the below Mazda ICONIC SP concept. Will we see a new GT-R and a rebirth of the RX line in production one day? Time will tell, but one thing is clear: there is a lot of excitement at the prospect of each.
