Detroit Auto Show ’09 Roundup (Part 1)

Last Friday I made the short flight up to Detroit to roam the halls of the Cobo Center for the second year in a row at the NAIAS. Even though this was a public day it was still a good chance to see many of the upcoming offerings from many of the worlds best automakers. I have to say many, because once again Porsche decided not to attend this show. Unfortunately, their tendency of cutting class seems to have spread, with other brands such as Ferrari, Suzuki, and Mitsubishi (sort of) following suit to leave some empty space on the upper floor. That space was eagerly absorbed by the likes of Tesla, Fisker, BYD, and others, but the feeling wasn’t the same.

Looking through the photos that I have, there’s probably too many to cover in just one post. Therefore, I’ll make this a two parter to be continued soon. For now, hit the jump to check out some of the highlights, including a few instances of deja vu…

Cobo For a Day

Well I just found out that I am going to the Detroit Auto Show on Friday (yes, in less than 48 hours). It will be an up and back trip but should be interesting since I haven’t been to an Auto show since last year’s NAIAS.

Friday is a public day so things are sure to be crowded. I’m bringing the usual gear so stay tuned for highlights of the show this weekend.

2008 in Photos: Music

It’s time to close the book on 2008, and what better way than by looking back at the musical talents that I experienced throughout the year. Nashville, Tennessee gets labeled as the home for country music, and while that may be true, it’s also home to much more. Step into the right place on any given night, and you may come across jazz, blues, folk, hip hop, or most likely rock. I’ve always been a fan of rock music, and the best of it is still being redefined and reborn by the emerging bands that find themselves on stage at the many venues here.

Follow me after the jump to take a look at some of my favorite photos, the bands in them, and the venues that host such amazing shows. (Above – Enjoy the Zoo performing at 12th and Porter).

Thanks for a great year 2008

2008 was a great year for some, not so much for others. I luckily fell into the former category as more assignments and reasons to pick up my camera came along in the last 12 months than ever before in my life. Inspired by these guys, I decided to commemorate the new year by creating the three images above, cascading previous images within them. Soon I’ll go into detail about some of my favorite photos of 2008, and also let you in on what’s planned for 2009.

For now, head on over to my portfolio and check out the update which I also made to it tonight with new photos from the second half of the year in motorports, music, and everything else.
